Below you will find links to teaching opportunities outside of the departmental offerings. This list includes both volunteer and paid teaching opportunities on the UMass campus and in the surrounding community. Short descriptions from the programs are included but be sure to explore the sites themselves for more detailed and up-to-date information.

Labor/Management Workplace Education Program
This volunteer opportunity on the UMass campus pairs tutors with members of the UMass workforce community. Topics include computer training, ESOL classes, and “Next Step” classes for professional development.

See-Hear-Feel-Film
As a volunteer with Amherst Cinema’s See-Hear-Feel-Film program you will help lead media literacy lessons for third graders from across the Pioneer Valley.

Town of Amherst Leisure Service and Supplemental Education
Instructors as LSSE have the opportunity to design their own courses or serve as instructors for a wide variety of courses including music, crafting, health and wellness, technical training, and SAT Prep. Courses are open to the Pioneer Valley community and include youth as well as adult courses.

Upward Bound Summer Institute
Upward Bound is a summer program at UMass for high school students from Springfield, MA. Instructors are part of the effort to introduce students to college life by designing student-centered courses on topics such as mathematics, laboratory science, English language arts, and youth participatory action research.
